Who we are

the strip ("the game", "we") is an online drag racing game. Contact: support@thestrip.io.

What we collect

Guest play: your save lives in your browser's localStorage. If you never create an online session, nothing about you reaches our servers.

Online accounts: an account identifier, your email address (if you sign in with email), and your game state, cars, parts, currency balances, race results, replay input logs, and an append-only log of in-game transactions. Race replays contain only game inputs (key timings), never text or personal content.

How you found us: when an account is first created we record how you arrived: the tag on the link you followed if it had one (for example ?ref=tiktok), otherwise the website that linked you, whether you were on a phone, tablet or desktop, and a two-letter country code that our hosting platform works out from your connection. We do not store your IP address. None of it is updated afterwards, none of it is shared, and none of it is used to target anything at you. It exists so we can tell which of the places we post in are worth posting in.

Purchases: payments are processed by Stripe. We never see your card number. We store the Stripe payment id, the pack purchased, and the amount, so we can credit your account and handle refunds.

What we use it for

Running the game (saving progress, matchmaking, leaderboards), preventing cheating (server-side replay verification), fulfilling purchases, and required accounting. We also count new accounts by where they came from, by country and by device, to see which marketing is working. Those counts are read as totals by us, never sold, never shared, and never used to advertise to you.

Processors

Supabase (database and authentication), Vercel (hosting), Stripe (payments). Each processes data only to provide their service to us.

Retention

Account data is kept while the account exists. Deleting your account removes all game data immediately; our payment processor Stripe retains transaction records as required by financial and tax law.

Your rights

You can export all data we hold about you (Account → Download my data) and delete your account entirely (Account → Delete account). EU/UK residents have the full set of GDPR rights, access, rectification, erasure, portability, and complaint to your supervisory authority.

Children

Real-money purchases require an adult (18+) attestation. The game is not directed at children under 13.
