Pricing
the strip is a free browser drag racing game. You can play all of it, every car, track, tournament, and ranked mode, without paying anything. Real money buys two things, and both are optional: gems, the in-game currency used for cosmetics, and the strip pass, a monthly subscription that pays gems and shards for playing.

One-off purchases. Nothing here renews.

Prices are listed in US dollars; your bank handles any currency conversion. Where we are required to collect VAT, GST, or sales tax, it is shown on the checkout screen before you confirm. Payments are processed securely by Stripe, and the charge on your bank or card statement comes from the strip (thestrip.io).
The strip pass
$7.99 per month. This one is a subscription and it renews automatically.
The pass adds a 40 tier track that resets on the 1st of each month. Racing earns pass xp, xp fills tiers, and every tier pays out. There are two lanes:

The premium figures include the free lane, which subscribers also get. Clearing all 40 tiers also awards the Full Clear badge, a cosmetic that is not sold. A full clear is a lot of racing: it is what a committed month looks like, not a casual one, and the amounts above are the most a month can pay however many hours go into it.
Subscribing pays every premium tier you have already reached this month, back to tier one. Progress on the free lane is kept whether or not you ever subscribe.
Renewal terms. The pass renews every month at $7.99 until you cancel, charged to the payment method you used to start it. You can cancel at any time from account settings, which opens Stripe's billing page, and you keep premium until the end of the month you have already paid for. Cancelling does not take back rewards already paid out. We will tell you before the price changes, and a price change never applies to a month you have already been charged for.
Limited packs
From time to time we sell a pack: a set of exclusive cosmetics, bought once with gems, on sale for a stated window. The founders pack is five exclusive items for 2,000 gems, on sale for two weeks, closing 20 August 2026. Pack items are not sold separately, are never in the crate, and cannot be crafted from shards. When the window closes they are not sold again. The countdown in the shop is the window, and it is enforced on our servers.
What gems buy
Everything gems buy is cosmetic. Paint, liveries, wheels, plates, and other visual items. Cosmetics never affect car performance, so nothing here makes you faster or changes a race result.

Every cosmetic can be bought directly at the price above, so a crate is never the only way to get an item.
Crate odds
The Strip Crate contains one cosmetic. Published odds per open:

Each crate also counts toward a guarantee, and you choose which one. On the epic setting an epic or better is guaranteed within 15 opens; on the legendary setting a legendary is guaranteed within 25. You can change the setting at any time in the shop, and your progress toward the guarantee carries over when you do. Duplicate pulls convert to shards, which can be spent to craft a specific cosmetic. Odds are enforced on our servers and are the same for every player.
Spending controls
Purchases require an account and an 18-or-over confirmation. You can set a monthly spend cap in account settings at any time, and it is enforced on our servers before a checkout can open. The cap counts gem packs and pass renewals together. There is no way to spend money by accident during a race.
